Methodological approaches applicable to patient-provider interaction analysis: A mini-review

چکیده
Online platforms and smartphone applications that facilitate patient-provider communication are examples of how digital technologies support human interaction. Telehealth enables clinical encounters when physical consultations not possible, evidence confirms face-to-face remote healthcare have comparable efficacy. Furthermore, research shows relationship influence patient outcomes. However, we lack studies on what happens during these interactions, particularly in text-messages conversations, from a linguistic or behavioral perspective. Our methods will evolve alongside our channels. Currently, there is an overall preference for qualitative research. Some authors argue quantitative measures (clinical measurements, questionnaires) understanding the patients' experiences, whereas approaches (interviews, focus groups) provide full picture. Others suggest their combination to interpret interactions thoroughly. As result, it often difficult researcher choose between one more approaches. We conducted mini-review approaches, such as corpus linguistics conversation analysis, well analysis variance temporal pattern detection, analysis. Additionally, distinguish relevant communicative features synchronous live video-calls, asynchronous non-instant messaging. further discuss methods' potential aim guide researchers methodology interaction studies. recommendations based approaches' ability answer question, mixed-methods approach future

Patient-Provider Interaction: A Communication Accommodation Theory Perspective
This paper critically reviews studies that have interpretively invoked communication accommodation theory (CAT) for the study of patient-provider interaction. CAT’s sociolinguistic strategies—approximation, interpretability, interpersonal control, discourse management, and emotional expression—are succinctly introduced and their use in studies of patient-provider interaction discussed. The majo...
متن کاملIntroduction. Sequence analysis of patient-provider interaction.
In doctor-patient communication research a few mainstreams can be distinguished: a robust quantitative line of research, in which all patient and/or physician utterances are classified in a basically neutral coding system, usually consisting of a comprehensive set of mutually exclusive categories like RIAS (Roter, 1995) and VR-MICS (Del Piccolo et al., 1999; 2002), versus some more qualitative ...

The Neuregulin is a member of the epidermal growth factors (EGF) family of receptor kinases, was originally identified as the product of the transforming gene derived from chemically induced rat neuroblastoms. A variety of different protein isoforms are produced from single Neuregulin gene. Four distinct vertebrate gene encode Neuregulin, prosaically named NRG1, NRG2, NRG3, and NRG4. Most of bi...

متن کاملDrainage after Modified Radical Mastectomy – A Methodological Mini-Review
Breast cancer is a socially relevant group of malignant conditions of the mammary gland, affecting both males and females. Most commonly the surgical approach of choice is a modified radical mastectomy (MRM), due to it allowing for both the removal of the main tumor mass and adjacent glandular tissue, which are suspected of infiltration and multifocality of the process, and a sentinel axillary ...
